970 vs 780 upgrade.

I recently had a R9 280X die on me, so I'm looking to upgrade. 

most will say the 970 (£275) yet you can pick up a 780 for £230, which is a big difference. is it really worth paying that extra for? 

To keep in mind is my resolution, i'm running on a 2560x1440p monitor.

Either will do. I would buy the GTX 970 because of the lower power consumption and newer card designs, but the GTX 780 isn't too far behind.

Like i said, at the moment there's nearly £50 difference, so I'm wondering if paying the extra money is worth it for the 970... Or the cheaper 780

I'd say 780. The performance is about the same so unless you need some of the new features or the extra GB of ram it's not really worth it. I would check used markets as well because you might be able to get it for even cheaper. In the US, used 780s are going for about $260.
