Choosing a processor for Gta V

Does anyone have any predictions about whether gta V will benefit from a 4790k over a 4690k.

 

I am looking to really get the most out of this game with my gtx 970 and either the i5 or i7. I know everyone says they have similar gaming performance but I thought since gta V is an open world game with potential for a large number of npc's etc that it might be able to take advantage of the i7.

 

Would be interested if anyone can compare to what kind of hardware gta iv compared to equivalents at that time.

I5 4690k is the best you can get

A 4690K should be fine. No one really knows yet :P

We can't really tell right now. If it's like GTA 4 on PC then you would need a powerful rig. But most likely a i5 4690K should be fine.

I thought it was i5 4969k

But yeah the 4690k will do fine unless you have around 20 mods on :L

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

Never was into GTA then to get into that mess, but I'm definitely eyeing 5, if not just to screw around with people.

I had it on console, it really is a pretty awesome game. That is why I am super hyped for higher res, better details and more npc's those were IMO the only things missing when I played GTA V (I only played story though).

Well GTA Online had less npc's and less detail.

 

I'm more excited to see what the modding community can do with this game along with the higher res.

Yeah that is why I mentioned that I only played the story, a fair amount of people had issues with online.

 

I agree, gta is a great platform for so many mods, definitely will be interesting to see what people can do with it. I am hoping for a driving physics mod to make driving a little more challenging and less arcade like but we will have to wait and see.

I wanted people to speculate, I know there aren't any hard facts but I was curious as to how people thought the game might be optimised. People seem to think that it won't be optimised for more than 4 threads, I was kind of hoping it would be optimised for 8 though because the ps4 and xbone run 8 core amd. (Then I would have an excuse to buy an i7 over an i5 because I am torn right now) My wallet and common sense says that the i5 is the best bet, but I just don't want to be limited.
