Go up to a 450watt PSU, the one in your current PC is 300, may be well to go up 150... or go up 200.

Why? It's not worth putting any money into that PC.

He's clearly on a tight budget, I would always advice him to get a new PC... but if he can't that PSU is the only thing he can do at the moment. Or he could save that money and just  get or build a new PC.

The PSU is obviously not failing, so why upgrade a part that will do nothing for him? Sure he can use it in a later build, but why not just save up and buy it all together?

He said is PSU is failing.
