How long will it last?

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

for gpu id recommend r9 280 or r9 285 to go with the FX...good match.

So i've been doing countless research. And a lot of you have recommended me a 8-core AMD. But i was wondering how long it will last? Because i need a system that will last about 2+ years. But the 8320/50 is like 2 years old. So i'm not sure...

Whats the intended purpose? If its just playing current and future AAA titles at max settings, then I'd go with an Intel i5, other wise an FX chip is fine, albeit nearly three years old now.

It'll do fine. It won't be super awesome or give you the highest frame rates possible, but the games will definitely still be playable.

You just have to expect 2 year old performance from it, as it is a 2 year old chip, like you said.

Right now I'm running a 3 or 4 year old Intel chip, and will continue to do so until Pascal is released.

i upgraded my 4.6ghz FX8320 about 4 months ago cause it was bottlenecking my gpu(gtx780) in most games...that should tell you how long it will last...

go with this instead:

No, I can't afford AAA titles lol. Its for Photoshop, Light Room, and Adobe Audition, along with some basic stuff. I'm all bout Team Intel, but AMD I heard from people in this forum is good price/performance ratio, except a fewer frame rates and lower setting. What's a graphics card within 200 bucks that won't be bottleneck from the FX 6300/8350 series?

Wow really? Would it make a difference, since i don't usually play AAA titles, and don't spend over 200 on graphics?

In editing/rendering an 8350 would be better than an i5; although an i7 would be better than both (albeit more expensive).

Heard a Xeon e3 is the cheaper alternative to a i7?

Depends the application. A 200 dollar GPU is almost useless for Photoshop with a 150 dollar CPU. A 250 dollar CPU (i7, Xeon) paired with a 100 dollar GPU (R7-260x, or GTX750 for low power usage) would be much better.
