He already has access to his HDD. There's just more files then will fit on his backup media. But how much could it be to get another USB stick though

Ehh, more than what's available to spend.

This computer is slowly making my brain turn to mush if I didn't think of that...

Any way I can create a secure folder in case they're infected with any junk?

Mawh!

the more you try to fix it on the same drive the risks is kinda higher , i've seen a couple of bad repairs that ended with the whole drive being formatted/wiped, soon you'll be forced to do a formatting if you play around with it with mini applications that make the problem worse, same case with the windows own repair utility, i guess you need to wait it out maybe borrow a friends drive

do you have a back up disc drive with you by any chance , Kaspersky /eset nod or avg other backup utility which you might have used to do a secure backup on a physical drive?

Forgot to add you in to the reply. I do not.

Oh man, Apparently this is the most interesting series of Windows problems to ever grace this forum :D

Damn you're in a pickle, even if you remove the virus (if it is) it'll take you to repair the system file which in turn will tell you to format the drive :/

By the way which OS are you using? don't see that on your profile

plus do you have a External USB or flash drive that's empty?

Details separate people.

I dunno..it started up a little bit faster so it must have helped. Running AdwCleaner at the moment, still need to redownload HitmanPro.
