U2414H>P2414H>Generic LG or Acer something. Depends on how much you want to spend. If you are interested in 21:9 the lg 3440x1440 monitors are insane. If you want to move to triple screens U2414H is probably your best bet since it's amazing in surround due to slim bezels.

Need to buy first monitor for new build, I'm currently using a basic HD TV and wasting all of my GPU.

I need a cheapish monitor, preferably under £250 but am willing to stretch to £300. I'm a student so have to move every year, don't want to haul 3 screens around with me for now.

Prefer IPS but not completely against TN, also interested in 21:9 but is it any good for a triple screen setup?

Medium gaming so response time really isn't a big deal for me, have played consoles all my life.

What would you suggest?
