Using an after market cooler would help a lot more, but it should lower your temps by a couple of degrees.

Recommend getting a 212 EVO if it fits in case. Great cooler for low cost and easily beats the stock cooler by 10-15C.

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

It would, but a better upgrade would be the heatsink itself. Depends if you're looking to overclock, or just want better temps.

I'm just looking to see if I can get better temps with it as I'm not really looking to over clock my CPU as I don't think my PSU will be able to handle that.

If you have the couple of quid/bucks/euros/rupees etc. then sure, why not?
