Deep scan can take several hours depending on disk size, so you'd probably remember if you did use it. If nothing has been written over the files, a deep scan will find them.
Mind you, it may be possible that the filename is missing, in which case it can get a random name. So you may have to recover every file you can and open them all.

Word to the wise : If the deep scan finds files, recover them to another hard disk. Not just another partition, a completely different physical drive. Recovery tools have been known to overwrite files that they were planning to recover later, corrupting those and making them unrecoverable after all.
