Does branded RAM matter?

I'm looking at RAM and there are so many options at varying price points. Does the brand of RAM I get really matter? I've been looking through DDR3 2400 RAM and the prices go from almost $300 all the way down to about $150 for the same amount (2x8). Now obviously stuff like build quality and reliability matter, but is there any noticeable performance difference between the low end and super high end products?

You pay more for a fancy heatsink, that's about it.

Mostly asthetics, maybe a warenty. CAS can change the price pretty drastically.

It's basically Looks and how good an RMA system they have.

 

Also if its a brand like corsair which is iconic for their dominator platinums, they drive the price through the fucking roof because it'll still sell.

Much of ram kits have lifetime warranty. Brand doesn't really matter but some lines tend to oc well--not that that matters for most people.
