2960x1080 Monitors

Sergeant Acorn

Is there any reason for them? I was plannin to but one just because of the cool factor but since they are so closely priced to the 1440p alternative, i dont really know.

This one is the one im thinking about getting:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824260115

I like having just one big screen and i'd love to try out that form factor

I'm upgrading from a Dell Ultrasharp 2007WFP. I'm going to use this as a auxiliary

monitor if i do decide to take the plunge. Gotta have me that IPS

Is it worth it?

I'm pretty sure its 2560x1080. And i will get one myself soon, probably the one from LG with the new revision. The monitor should be nice for working with more then one window side by side and for watching movies in cinema scope. Also gaming should be nice, since you will be getting a broader viewing angle.

They are both ips so colors will look great on 1440p or this monitor..

i have a dell u2713HM thats 2560 x 1440  :D love it! (refresh rate is only 60Hz though so gaming requires vsync if you have a good system that pushes games above 60 fps)

Pixel density will be better on the 1440p monitor but 21:9 will be awesome for movies with cinema like aspect ratio.

Since anime mostly is in 16:9 ratio, it would probably better to get a 2560x1440.

If you're watching loads of movies the 2560x1080 is a good choice but for productivity i think any 2560x1440 screen is a better choice just for that extra vertical room, I personall have a Asus pb278 and coming from a 1080p screen the thing is amazing. The 29 inch monitors are cool though.

Does anyone know how a 670 would hold up on a 2560x1080 monitor? I imagine it wouldn't be too much worse than a 1080p monitor, hopefully the 2gb VRAM doesn't come into play.

You will probably not be able to max out every setting + high anti aliasing, but most in games you should be able to play with decent/high graphics.

You should get a 670 3GB so for the future if you need more horsepower, just add another 670 and then VRAM won't be an issue.

I already have a 2gb 670, so I'm just thinking about updating my monitor. Although I'm probably only going to go higher res the next time I build a rig.

If you already have a 2gb 670 then just get a better monitor if you want to, it's your choice. Although I'm preparing for Battlefield 4 because it will use a lot of VRAM. I might go for a 700 series 4 gb. But i know that by the time i push enough textures to max out that 4gb, my GPU will be at its limit, so thats when I go 2 or 3 way SLI
