This is my system - Asus M5A97 R2.0 motherboard, GSkill 2133mhz 8gb ram, AMD Fx-8350 cpu, EVGA 660 GTX superclocked video card, cooler master v6 cpu cooler. I want to run the ram at 2133 but it will not let me set it to that. When i set it to that and save and reboot it says overclock failed. It want to run it at 1600. I do also want to overclock my cpu to 4.5 or 4.6 if possible and get my ram to 2133. If i have to sacrifice the cpu overclock then i will to get the ram speed seeing how the stock speed of the cpu is already 4.0 and 4.2 turbo.

Did you check if your mainboard supports that these Ram speeds?

Make sure you set the voltage & timings properly for the RAM in your bios. Try only setting the ram to 2133 first without the CPU overclocked. Also remember that technically the 8350 doesn't "support" 2133 but it can probably do it if you work with your chip and get to know it enough. If it cant possibly even run it at 2133 - don't get discouraged. You can still run the ram at a slightly lower speed (1866 or 1600) but with a lot tighter timings (like CAS 8 or 7). You'll have to do some work in order to get it working just right with your system.

Well it says 2133 (oc) so i guess you have to overclock it to run it at that speed. My question is can i get that speed with oc the cpu?

Your ram is rated at 2133 yes? Then it shouldnt make any difference for the CPU overclock. But i could be wrong with this particular mainboard.

The CAS is 11 on my ram. I did set the timings proper to the ram. I dont know for sure if the 8350 does support 2133. If it dont then i think it is stupid that they say the board can do it and all of amd cpus will not support it you know.
