Speaker box

Jebonia

Hello all. I'm in need of knowledge again. So i had a spare computer powersupply, headunit and 2 6.5" car speakers and want to put it into a box so i can listen to music in the garage. I have already started by soldering the green cable into a ground and cutting off all the excess cable so i am up to making the box.  Now i have no idea what to do with the box in terms of sealed vs ported or filling it with insulation or not.  The speakers are some sony xplod 40w rms 6.5" and would like to get as much bass as i can without it distorting too much. What would be the best configuration? sealed or ported? stufffed or not? Can i use a pillow to stuff it? Should i wrap it in carpet afterwards? I plan to make it about the size of a mid tower case if not smaller.

for 6" speakers the ports would only need to be tiny. i would do 4 1/4" holes and countersink them on both sides. the size if the box would need to be fairly small as well. i would bother with insulation inside.

What do you mean by counter sinking them? So i do insulate them? Will old pillows or insulation used for houses work?

a counter sink bit looks like

countersinks2013_11_21_10_4620_11_2013_2

or

20310%203pc%20countersink%20bit%20set.jp

they will make the port holes have a smoother flow of air. i wouldn't use insulation
