So I'm having issues trying to overclock my 4770k on a Maximus VI Gene mobo.   So far the best I've gotten is 4.2ghz @ around 1.2 volts with temps around 65-75 C.

When I try stock settings my chip is drawing 1.28volts during stress/benchmark test.   Seems like I just have a VERY bad chip but figured I'd check with some others who might had similar experiences before I give up all together.

Any ideas and/or suggestions?

The 4770k isn't the best overclocker. Which is why devil's canyon is that much better.

Indeed, but most 4770k user SEEM to beable to atleast push 4.3-4.4 under 1.3volts.       The fact that I'm struggling to get past 4.2 with as much as 1.275 volts plus the fact that the chip is eating 1.28 volts at stock settings (3.9 turbo) leads me to believe this might be a pretty bad chip.

I also tried reseating the CPU.   Only other thing I can think of is that perhaps I should have cleaned the bottom contacts of the CPU?   No idea honestly ....
