Hi there.

I am so tired of Windows. After I bought my first Mac this autumn I really feel like I have been missing out on the best operating system ever made. (This is just my opinion though).

I am going to make my machine into a hackintosh.

First of all, here is my machine:

Motherboard: MSI M-Power z77

CPU: Intel Core i7 2600

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8 GB 1600 Mhz RAM (running at 1,3)

GPU: Zotac Geforce GTX 780 (ref. cooler)

That should be all the relevant stuff. I tried hackintoshing my machine with Maverick this summer, but failed. I used Tonymacx86's software etc.
Since my motherboard is not really supported, I used THIS GUIDE, where I flashed the BIOS.

Last try was without luck. I have decided to try again. This time, with more patient and hopefully some other software. I am not very happy with Tonymacx86k so it would be great if anyone got any other solutions.

.. If I were to faill...

What parts should I buy? I mean, which parts would GUARANTEE that I will get OS X Mavericks or preferably OS X 10.10 Yosemite running?
Some options when it comes to price would be great.

It should also be noted that I DO have an Asus P8 z68 V-PRO motherboard laying around. Would I perhaps have a better chance with that card?

Thank you for all your support.

Edit: Found the whole name of the Asus MB

go to tonymacx86.com and there is a ton of parts guides,

basically for the easiest experience get a Gigabyte motherboard (non-gaming series), a recent Nvidia GPU (SLI not supported), and if you want Wifi you'll need to make sure it's capatible.

other than that most of the other standard parts you can get w.e.

I was able to hackintosh on a MSI z68a motherboard. I couldn't find support for it on any of the Tonymac sites but it did work. I think gigabyte boards are best for support.

Where are you going wrong? Can you install at all? Is it crashing during installation?

I believe I managed to get the machine booting last time. Got everything installed but couldnt really find any drivers. I believe that is because I was not patient enough. (Had already used 3 days getting to install the OS). My internet-connection did not work and all of the animations in OS X Mavericks didnt run properly.

Asus board can have some luck when it comes to compatibility but you should be looking at Gigabyte boards since they usually support OS X quite well.

Any spesific boards?

Will all of them work with my i7 2600? Ive seen some people have problems with Sandy bridge when hackintoshing.

I had no issues with Sandybridge but I was on z68, not z77. I also installed Mountain Lion as I thought it might be better supported. I think you should be able to get it up and running. I used this guide.

I think you'd be fine with just about any Gigabyte board.

You should probably check with the TonyMacx86 forums though.
