i can remember at one point it was literally the only card people could recommend because it was so cheap and so fast. then mining blow up and ruined it :(

If you look around you can find some that are in like new condition.

I got my pair for $220 and I replaced the thermal paste and thermal pads and then cleaned both cards out and made them new again.

Temp's never went above 65c in BF4 on the top card and bottom card stayed around 45c - 50c.

Plus I just got the third card for $110.

So $330 for all 3 cards.

Intel Core I7 7820X | Asus Rampage VI | Gigabyte RX 580 XTR | 32GB Crucial Ballistix | NZXT Kraken X62

Well it'll work but not great because unless you get a board with a plan chip the third card will likely be going through the chipset at x4. There will be a bunch of latency for the third card due to this.

Well, AMD only requires 4x PCI-e lanes, so any CPU with 12 lanes or more will do fine. But really, if you're going 3-way, don't cheap out on the CPU.

So here's the thing I don't know of any board that is wired to lower the main PCI-E slots lower than x8. Also usually the third x16 sized slot is x8 more more likely x4 and goes through the chipset.

I looked at some motherboards and some run in 8x , 8x , 8x but are expensive.

I would have to balance out on the cpu or motherboard.

I was told anything AMD wouldn't work.

i will work but you'll need the mother of power supplies and coolers

With what cpu ?

anything on a consumer/mainstream chipset. So that would be the case with both the 4690K and 4790K as well as everything prior back to sandy bridge.

Correct, anything higher than 2 way SLI or crossfire gets quite expensive.

That might works youd have to check the manual to see exactly how its doing it.

I looked at all cpu's..

3rd Gen - 3770K

4th Gen - 4690K

4820K could do it fine because it uses X79. Its a bit dated though since X99 is out now.

Yeah I just looked and its out of my budget.

As I said anything that properly supports 3 way likely is. My suggestion just go with 2 way and spend more money on your cpu and gpu.
