I have some old and slow computers that are filled to the brim with crap on the hard drives and I think that's the reason they're slow. Would I wipe the hard drives and if so what would I have to do?

Yea and I tried to doing system restores, but I can't go back far enough to reset them

If you have the original installation disks or have a built in recovery partition you can restore the system to factory defaults. Be sure to save any data you want to keep to a seperate hard drive. Safest bet would be to use an external hard drive or a thumb drive.

There are several videos on youtube that walk you through the installation process.

If you tell us what operating system they have or what model of computer they are we can be a little more helpful.

Like I said I don't have the vista home basic install disks

Here is a link to your owners manual:

http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Document/Generic%20UG/Generic%20UG_eMachines_1.0_A_A.zip?acerid=634026681573568114&Step1=DESKTOP&Step2=EL%20SERIES&Step3=EL1300G&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=EMACHINES&SC=PA_6E

Go to page 57 to see the steps on how to recover your OS to factory settings.

1. Back up everything you wish to keep. Whether it's to an external hard drive, cloud storage, DVD, or thumb drive.

2. Re-install windows Vista to revert to factory settings. There are several youtube videos that you can follow to do this. Here is the first one I found:

3. Install AVG Free or another antivirus software.

4. Install windows updates.

5. Do a quick virus scan of your backed up data

6. Copy backed up data to the new install of windows.

If you run into any trouble let us know.
