From my knowledge it can mean two things, 1. Subscribed. 2. Subtitled (Such as for anime)

It can have a lot of meanings, the most common, at least in the video/movie world, is subtitled.

Mostly used to talk about anime that is "subbed" in english with japanese voices.

 

There is a huge debate over whether subbed or dubbed (english voice actors, no subtitles) is better. Stay away from it because a lot of people are biased over this. It depends on what show you are talking about and generalization is extremely rampant on that matter.
