Is there any way to override the mouse cursor when using DSR to actually represent the size of the DSR (i.e. be smaller) and not stay in the native resolution?

Couldn't you just make the cursor smaller in settings?

No, the card physically renders the cursor at native resolution, so there's no way to make it "Smaller in the settings."  It's most evident when you drag a window around, as when you do it changes to the native res.

You can try looking for smaller mouse pointers online and set them individually... Just be careful of some sites...

Is it really better than downsampling? I mean im pretty happy with my 1800p now, but with DSR i can have 4K scaling. Is there much of a difference?

Not sure... I'm not rocking anything that can do DSR...

That more likely due to increased required processing power along with large in game for drops that cs is known for.

I'm just suggesting some solutions to a problem...

Appreciate it, but there's a fundamental misunderstanding to the problem.

When you employ DSR in Windows, it renders the mouse cursor at the native DPI of the monitor.

Example:

If you up-res a 1080p monitor to QHD (2560x1440) it still renders the mouse cursor the same Real-World size as if the monitor were in 1080 (which it is, technically).  This happens EXCEPT when you "click and drag" things like windows, etc.  At which time, it renders the mouse cursor in the resolution of the DSR (2560x1440 for our example).  This means, if you somehow forced a smaller cursor, by say, downloading and installing a custom cursor pack, it would just be EVEN SMALLER when you clicked and dragged.  The problem is the "change".  The solution (if possible) would just be to have the system render the cursor all the time at the DSR resolution.  I'm sure Nvidia foresaw calls saying "I DSR'd to 4k on my 1080p 21" monitor and now I can't see my mouse cursor because it's like, 2 pixels large" which is why they implemented the "render the mouse at native resolution" solution... I am just looking for a way to turn this off, because I'm not stupid and the thing they implemented is kind of broken (if you move your mouse to the top or edge of the screen it disappears because of this "Solution" they created).

ok so key thing here. DSR is for games, where the cursor will likely scale up if it has proper hud support. Not the windows desktop, though it does work there. I have actually been meaning to try it with a video renderer madVR.

Even in games, I am experiencing the "mouse disappears at the top of the screen" issue, sadly. I have a feeling this is because some games render the mouse using hardware and some with software, so any game that uses the hardware to render would theoretically have the same issue as the Windows desktop cursor...

... which is why I want to turn off this "feature."

All depends on the engine man I have not had this disappearing cursor issue. I have had different size ones in CS, basically the menu's vs in game. The CS issue is kinda expected because of the engine the game is on (source with stuff thrown on top). Also I really wish Steam's overlay would scale.
