Quiet Haswell Build

Go to solution Solved by The1nf3cted0n3,

Any suggestions? I'm up for anything that looks nice (no noctua) runs quiet and better than the stock cooler (and below $70)

I don't know why but noctua and a sabertooth go so well which each other it is weird but it works look up some builds. I know cooler master makes some downward faces CPU coolers haven't used one of them but I do us a 212 evo

A good gpu cooler would be a direct cu 2 twin frozr whatever his iceq are ones that I reccomend one the AMD side

Get a fractal design define r4 haven't used one but if you work with it (silent components not 30mm annoying fans) is dead silent from what I hear

Getting straight to the point, I currently have these parts, my budget is around $1200 for the tower only (already have the other stuff):

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/invader369/saved/1HmT

A couple of questions:

Which case would be good for this build, should have black inside (should it be a special silence case?)

Which GPU would be a notable upgrade from gtx 460 without costing too much while being quiet (around $200).

Is the aftermarket cooler overkill if I don’t plan on overclocking (or maybe a slight overclock)?

Is there a better choice than the sabertooth? (I really like the 5year warranty on it and looks pretty good)

How quiet would this system be? It’ll mainly be used for moderate gaming, videos, and a bit of photoshop but I want it to be "future proof" for lack of a better word.

I'll consider any advice given since I'm very indecisive about the parts (this is my second build, first post).

If you are planning to use the small fans on the sabertooth... Dont. THEY ARE LOUD.

Get a fractal R4 for the case

A 7850 for the graphics card (or 7870 if you can afford it)

Just get a cheap aftermarket cooler with good reviews as it will be quieter and better performing

Sabertooths are awesome (A down-facing CPU cooler (Noctua makes some I believe) will help cool under the thermal armor thus eliminating the need for the small noisy fans)

If you get an R4, a graphics card with a quiet cooler, and a quiet aftermarket CPU cooler, the system will be very quiet.

Also if you are getting an aftermarket cooler, try to get a down facing cooler in order to push more air into the thermal armor through the vents of the sabertooth. :)
Also get something black. :))

A 7870 was something I was looking into but there are a lot of different types, which would have a quiet cooler? The R4 does look nice, definite maybe.

Those seem too expensive, even more than the havik (which looks much better)

70 usd. :)

Noctua looks nice in a understated case imo. Function over form.

This I totally agree with.

It's true that it could look good in certain builds but it's just not for me I simply can't get over the color. I know I'm being picky but I'd like the build to perform well and have a nice black/white/gray/(maybe red) theme

Found a build with most of these things that looks nice. Thanks, would never have considered noctua if not for this pic. Also the twin frozr card looks good too.

EDIT: Another build that uses the a top down fan:
