Hi guys :D I have an old pc running an Intel Core2 Duo E2180, no graphics card, Asus p5g41t-m lx3 mobo, and non-modular 520W power supply LPK12- 30.

I have a budget of around 200€ and I would like to upgrade it a bit. I was thinking of buying the Core2Duo E6700 with a simple cooler, and buying a graphics card. I can buy a Sapphire R9 270X for 135,30€ or the Sapphire R9 280 for 159.90€ or VTX3D R9 280X for 150€. I've also found a Core2Duo E6700 for 40€. What do you guys think? Which GPU and yes or no to the cooler.

The power supply has only 4pin cables. Is an adpater safe to use? Or a new psu is required?

Please don't tell me that my system is old and I should buy a new rig because I know that, but I really want something better.

Main thing I do is gaming and some 3D rendering. I have an Acer 1440x900 monitor.

I think it would be better if you could just build a new computer from scratch.

A million times this. Save up about 600 or 700 EU's and build a complete system from scratch inside the same case to save money. Reuse ram if you can

you are going to have a lot fo trouble doing rendering with this cpu. like @trik'Stari said. save up 600-700$ and build a new computer. this upgrade will just be bottlenecked anyway.

40euro for a core2 duo is bad, you can get a core 2 quad for that.

You will also need a new PSU, the old one is crap and only delivers 240w max in 12V.

For 200 you can get in used parts on ebay:

a core 2 quad  25-50 euro

used decent 550-650w psu: 20-40 (or just buy a new one)

Proper enough cooler about 20 (or just buy a new one)

some gpu like a 570 2,5 gb 70-80 euro

total 135-190 euro

Overclock everything like hell and it should be quite good for gaming

at your res and meh for rendering.

Since youll have to replace most of your stuff though you could also look at some

used systems or part bundles.
