Put it to sleep.

It's a laptop....I'd rather have nothing on when I move it about so it doesn't break :/

Does hibernation turn off the components as I'd like to move the laptop about without damaging anything :S

So long as you don't drop it or jump around like a fucktard, it will be fine. My netbook with a Momentus 5400.6 has been dropped from maybe a foot twice and was fine.

what laptop will break when you move it?!

I take my laptop to my friends house while its ON and running a game (yes my backpack does get burning hot) and my HDD doesnt even show any slight signs of death.

Also, i've thrown my HDD while it was spinning and it still works (it was a very old laptop drive that was useless) heh @tmcclelland455

I was pretty much only worried about the HDD breaking xD I have loads of stuff open that I need open and didn't really want to close it all and open it again xD

trust me...

it wont break

Actually, I just dropped my Mac Mini on the floor while it was running (picked it up to plug something in) and its still running :)

HDD's are a lot stronger than you think

And some HDD's slow down when they sense vibrations or shaking (yours must, as its an SSHD!)
