Hello everyone, first time posting here.

I want to ask how much my cpu will bottleneck a 970. I have a AMD Phenom II x2 550 BE CPU that i got from a friend a year ago and with my current card(HD5750)  there probably are is no bottlenecking.

But that same friend told me that my cpu might not be supported my the 970, is this true?

On a side note MSI or Zotac AMP Omega for the 970?

It will bottleneck the GPU. The amount of bottlenecking is completely dependant on software and games you play. But if you plan on upgrading your processor sometime, you can buy the GPU now. And the AMP Omega if you like the crazy OC stuff and the MSI if the crazy VRMs and all the extra OC guff isnt your thing.

It'll run... probably not very well. do you have ddr2 or ddr3 chipset? if I were you I would get a g3258 + mb and wait for a 960. how big is your psu?

definitely a big bottle neck...

I had a Q8400 (about 50% faster than your Phenom) with a GTX770 - and that was a massive bottleneck... then I went to a Core i5-750 and that STILL bottlenecked the GTX770 (went from 60fps in league of legends to over 100 fps)... even a G3258 was an improvement over the i5-750.

Yea it's going to be a huge bottleneck, you may as well get a G3258 and motherboard and overclock the hell out of it and get a 970 when you save up another $100. I say "and" too much eh?

RIP in pepperonis m8s

Buy a Z97 chipset and a G3258, and then save up $200 more and sell the G3258 and buy an i5-4690 - that's what I did... or you could ride out the G3258 until 5th gen intel?

Crazy bottleneck anything above GTX 660 or radeon R9 260X is not worth it with that CPU it's a very weak CPU by today's standard...it defenetly can't feed a gpu such as the GTX 970, not even close...you'll get 30 to 40% GPU load in every games.
