Looking to put together an HTPC. Here's what I've narrowed down so far:

Is the G3258 good enough for an htpc? Won't be doing any gaming, just movies/tv shows. What should I put in for a video card? I have a spare 460 laying around.

CPU: Ryzen 5800X | GPU: RTX 3080 FE | Board: x570 Aorus Master | RAM: 32GB GSkill TridentZ | Case: Phanteks 719

You can get away with a much lower end chip, with a built in GPU so you don't need a video card.

Unless the G3258 has an integrated GPU?

According to ARK it does: http://ark.intel.com/products/82723/Intel-Pentium-Processor-G3258-3M-Cache-3_20-GHz

I just want to make sure it can drive super high quality 1080p movies.

I'm pretty sure 1080p is 1080p...that's the quality.

It'll be more than capable I'm sure. Especially if you're comparing it to your ancient G Force card. My integrated HD4000 graphics do just fine for me.

For media streaming you could even get a baytrail-D mobo with a J1900. they are ultra low power and fast enough. Also consider not getting a ssd as you probally won't notice it as all you would do is stream videos. also if you go for the Pentium get a cheap mobo you don't need z97.

Eh, thats not really how that works lol. 1080p is only the resolution. Then you're talking about bitrate, codec, etc

True, I suppose I dont need z97. Good call. Ssd was thrown in because I have one lying around. This will likely get paired together with a 4tb raid 1 setup across 2 drives or something.

And at the end of the day, it's video. Not an issue for the integrated graphics.
