Atleast this one's a better eclipse than twilight

Solar-Eclipse-2.jpg

The final eclipse event of 2014. Although it is only a partial solar eclipse, the event is widely visible from Canada and the USA

Greatest eclipse occurs at 21:44  UT in Canada's Nunavut Territory near Prince of Wales Island where the eclipse in the horizon will have a magnitude of 0.811. At that time, the axis of the Moon's shadow will pass about 675 km above Earth's surface. A sunset eclipse will be visible from the eastern half of the USA and Canada (except for the far northeast). The partial eclipse ends when the penumbra leaves Earth at 23:51:40 UT. (seriously i have no idea what that means, ctrl+v)

Nearly all of North America, except for a portion of eastern Canada and a slice of eastern New England, will experience this event , parts of Siberia will get a brief view around local sunrise time — but on Friday (Oct. 24)

Greatest eclipse, with more than four-fifths of the sun's diameter covered by the moon, will occur over the Canadian Arctic at M'Clintock Channel, an arm of the Arctic Ocean, which divides Victoria Island from Prince of Wales Island in the territory of Nunavut. The rest of North America will see less of the sun covered.

For much of Alaska, western and central Canada, the Pacific Northwest and the northern Plains, more than 60 percent of the sun's diameter will be covered by the passing new moon. For the Southwest and central and southern Plains, the eclipse magnitude diminishes to between 40 and 60 percent. Across the Ohio, Tennessee and Mississippi valleys, maximum eclipse will coincide with sunset, while farther to the east, the moon will only begin its encroachment onto the sun's disc as it sets.

In the United States, more than half of the sun's diameter will be covered north of a line extending from San Francisco to the Oklahoma panhandle. But this will occur in the mid- to late-afternoon hours — too late to dim the landscape abnormally. Some people might still attempt to record the gradual fading and recovery of the sunlight with sensitive photographic exposure meters. These can be set to view a light-colored wall that faces toward the Southwest.

As always you can look into the sun but remember to use filtered/polarised glasses otherwise ..
