Hey guys! I'm wanting to build a rig for gaming/editing. I was wondering if you guys could help me out by giving me some advice! My budget is ~$3k.

The components that I plan to get:

Case: NZXT Phantom 820

CPU: i7-3770k

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken x60 or the brand new Corsair h110, depending on reviews

Mobo: ASUS Maximus V Formula

RAM: 16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum @ 1866MHz

GPU: MSi GTX680 Lightning

PSU: Corsair AX860i

I already have two 512gb Samsung 840 Pro SSD's and a 1TB Seagate Barracuda to use.

I also plan to OC the CPU to ~4.8GHz, not sure about GPU yet.

So yeah, could you guys please rate/ give me advice?

EDIT: Peripherals:

Keyboard/Mouse - Corsair K95 for both

Monitor(s) - ASUS 23" LCD

Also, would a single GTX680 be able to support two monitors and have decent graphics while playing games at the same time?

Looks great! I would switch out the case with something else like the NZXT Switch 810 since it's an amazing case with tons of space and it has a better windowed side panel than your choice. Since your budget is around 3k, I would suggest you do a custom water cooling loop.

CASE: FRACTAL DESIGN DEFINE R4  |  MOBO: MSI MPOWER Z77  |  CPU: Intel i5 3570k @ 4.4 GHz  |  CPU COOLER: NOCTUA NH-D15  |  GPU: EVGA GTX 770 SC |

PSU: CORSAIR AX860 W/ RED BRAIDED CABLES | SSD: SAMSUNG 840 EVO 250 GB | HDD: WD BLACK 1 TB | FANS: 3x NOCTUA NF-A14 | MONITOR: HP W2371D

KEYBOARD: CM STORM QFR MX BLUES W/  PBT KEYCAPS  |  MOUSE: LOGITECH G502 | MIC: AUDIO TECHNICA AT2020 | HEADPHONES: SENNHEISER HD 558

Sounds freakin' awesome, man.

I'm trying to think of some advice for your computer, but there isn't really any I could give. I assume you intend to SLI at some stage?

The only other thing you should focus on really is your peripherals! Your keyboard and mouse, as well as monitor, are just as important--don't neglect them ;P

Thank you! I have thought about it, and I thought that I would do a DIY type thing with the side panel and replace the mesh with plexiglass or something similar. Custom water cooling is something I want to do in the future, but I'm not entirely confident in myself yet as I want to learn more about it.

Thanks dude! I do, but I want to play around with a single GPU for now. And wow, I managed to completely forget about my peripherals.. That's kind of embarrassing. I'll edit my post when I find some that I like.

Don't sweat it; just make sure you get an awesome mechanical keyboard to go with that nice rig ;)

If you plan on editing grab yourself a couple of more storage drives anything will do i prefer and have a few caviar blacks or a few more of those baracudas in a raid setup would be nice and some decent monitors is probably the only thing i would change, everything else is really nice just dont skimp on the fans and grab some decent ones and be gone with the ones that come with that case and cpu cooler and you'll love it.

*gt680's are more than enough to run 2 screens in most applications
