Hard Drive Cleanup

I am going to be building a new PC, i am planning to sell my old one on ebay, but i want to get all the data off of the hard drive except for the OS, i still want Windows 7 to be on the computer. Everything is on ONE hard drive. (data, OS...) How would I do that?

A simple reinstall wont rid the drive of your files. If somebody really wanted to they could still recover data (not that I suspect they would) But if you want to be really secure run a bootable disk image of DBAN and input "autonuke" when it ask for a command... it may take a few hours but it will get rid of all your data. After its done you are free to reinstall windows for the next person.

Just to let you know most places (ebay included) tells you in their ToS your not allowed to sell used machines with HDD included.

Peel the sticker off, to locate a hidden screw.

Remove that screw.

Drill hole through screw hole all the way through HDD.

Fill hole with water and baking soda.

Remove water mixture.

Replace screw.

Burn.

Dig hole.

Place in hole.

Cover hole.

Build house over hole.
