Hey linus forum,

i'll be ordering 2 new PCs within the next 2 days and have been watching alot of tech videos, primarily "linustechtips". i Want to post the 2 PCs on here and get some kind of Feedback. Both PCs are supposed to be for gaming, and yes i know. the first PC might be overkill!

What do you think about them? Are there maybe more price-efficient versions of what i want to get? do the 2 systems even work?(i think they should but maybe i overlooked something) maybe you even have tips on what to improve for similar money! Am i even missing a crucial Part? those are supposed to be complete PC builds.

first PC (mine)

  • NZXT h440 (like the case)
  • MSI X99s (rather cheap option)
  • I7 5820k
  • Be quiet dark rock 3 (like the looks since open panel)
  • Crucial 8 gb ddr4
  • Gtx 980 (i'll take the one i find in stock)
  • Corsair 850 Watt SU (prolly dont need that much but does it really matter to go for less)
  • 2x crucial 256gb SSD (really good price)
  • 4tb WD green

this build is pretty expensive. (for me)

second PC (my brothers)

  • NZXXT h440
  • ASRock z97 Pro3 (ive seen there are different chipsets. i have no idea which one to choose. id like to get the one with the best performance)
  • I5 4690
  • Be quiet dark rock 3
  • Crucial 8 gb ddr3
  • Gtx 970
  • Corsair 650 Watt SU
  • Samsung SSD (using my old SSD)
  • 2tb WD green

I'll get an USB DVD Drive so i dont need that internally.

Thanks in advance and regards

MOBO MSI X99s Gaming 7 - CPU i7-5820K - RAM 16gb ddr4 Ram - GPU Zotac 980GTX Amp! Edition - CASE NZXT H440 - STORAGE 2 Crucial 256gb SSD (Raid 0) 6tb WD Green - PSU Corsair 850W - COOLER Be Quiet Dark Rock 3

you can make 2 build based on i7k or i5k.. first is overkill but maybe you use it, who knows, and the second is for your mom?

The blood on to your heart start pumping faster when you notice me.

But is ok.

8GB DDR4? Why? Get a 4x4GB 16GB kit

Go for an EVGA PSU, the OEM is SuperFlower who are the best OEM out there, and are much better than Corsair PSU and PSU OEMs

i5 4670k - Z87X-UD3H - EVGA GTX 670 Sig 2 - Samsung 840 Evo 250GB - 8GB Avexir Core White 1600Mhz - Corsair 750D w/ RGB LED Mod & Remote Control - 2x SP120 - 3x Enermax Cluster - 2TB Seagate SSHD - Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 - SuperFlower Leadex Gold 750W

why would i get a gaming PC for my mom?

the 2nd one is for my brother, who is less of a PC enthusiast but still wants to be able to game comfortably for a less ridiculous price.

8gb ddr4 = 2x 4gb

im not getting 16gb because i dont want to spend twice the money coz 8gb ram is more than enough. also i think ram will get better within the next years so i rather start out like this and get better/more ram at a later point in time.

i will look into evga psu. im just not sure what you said about OEM? can you elaborate on that?

Sure,

The OEM are basically who make the product. Some Corsair PSU's are made by FSP for example, then sent to Corsair who put the Corsair sticker on and sell it

"Original equipment manufacturer"

It brakes my heart! as I said, with that amount of money you can build x2 i7 4790k for both of you. I rly wanna se your build with some benchmarks.

it broke my heart aswell when he told he'd rather get a cheaper PC and a PS4. i tried everything to convince him, telling him all the disadvantages of consoles but nothing helped.

I'm ordering all the parts to where he lives (im not living with my parents anymore) and build both PCs with him, since he has no clue on how to build a PC. anyhow on that occasion i'll stay there the whole week and i could supply some benchmark scores when i get back, maybe i can do it there but i dont know yet. I'll try to find a good list myself but i'd guess there is atleast one thread on this site listing all/good benchmarks? If so, a link would be nice.

well not sure if you meant if he either should get a 4x4gb 16gb kit (I presume you meant ddr4) if so then no problem.

Live your life like a dream.

it seems i could convince my brother to spend the extra cash on a 970 gtx :D i feel alot better now. imo he has a very decent build while mine is still a little overkill.
