Is this a good build?

Go to solution Solved by chpoit,

Why you have a Z97 if you have a noun K CPU??

This, 100% this the 4670k is 30$ more and the 4690k is 40$ more. Unless you cannot afford it, I would recommend waiting.

If your intention is to jump on broadwell as soon as it comes out,  I would understand the non-k, but at that point, why not go for the g3258 anniversary edition and have fun overclocking it like crazy. I run borderlands the pre-sequel at 60 frames(I think, it's real smooth but I haven't enabled a fps counter) no probs with it and with a 650 ti boost.

It was a noticeable drop in performance from my i7-3770 that died, but it does waht I need for now without problem, except for video format conversion, then it just stinks, that, however, is to be expected with a pentium.

If you want to do play some more CPU intensive games, I can'T help you that much, I haven't gamed much recently.

Also, no clear release for broadwell on PC.

Im going to use this for 1080p single monitor gaming

Any suggestions then?

Honestly, that Z97 board is pretty cheap already, so going with a similarly priced lower-tier chipset would be pointless, I would stay with the Z97 motherboard, and you'll have an upgrade path if you ever need it. But if you can stretch your budget to the 4690K, that would be ideal.
