Should I change my wireless adapter?

Joaquin94

The one I currently have is this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704141

I sometimes get issues when connecting or I get sudden disconnections. When this happens, it's only my pc the one that doesn't get access to internet (my phone stays connected and running just fine). It seems like the wireless adapter gets "saturated" when I have too many programs using internet at the same time. This problem also happens for a short period of time and sometimes gets "fixed" by itself.

Could the problem be just with the wireless adapter or could it be something else?

By the way, my router is this one: http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-WR740N-Wireless-Router-150Mpbs/dp/B002WBX7TQ and a wireless adapter that I've been checking out, as a posible replacement, is this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704129

1. Thats a shitty router and adapter.

2. The issue could be from the router, though you might as well upgrade your wireless adapter, I currently use this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007GMPZ0A/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me= in my build, works absolutely amazing.

3. Its a little bit pricey, but this is an amazing router: http://www.amazon.com/RT-N66U-Dual-Band-Wireless-N900-Gigabit-Router/dp/B006QB1RPY

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

it can happen because of dead spots in your apartment / home.

Is the PC and router far away from each other? If they are in separate rooms, try to reduce the distance between the router and the PC and see if that fixes the issue.

You can try a wifi range extender and see if that fixes the issue. better yet, change the router.!! I use this one.

I've always been skeptical of using a small USB wireless adapter for a computer, but I don't know if that is what is causing your problems.

However the PCIe adapter you linked I personally used until I finally ran an ethernet connection to my room, and I didn't get any problems with connection on that (except of course general wifi limitations).

You may want to test if your wifi router is appropriately handling multiple devices over wifi.

The Internet is the first thing that humanity has built that humanity doesn't understand, the largest experiment in anarchy that we have ever had.

Okay look I have suffered for this so I'll give you some insight.

I can't see the pic Idk why but first thing I'll tell you is if you are using wireless at 2.4ghz and there is a lot of connection near you. You are going to have so much interruption and interference. So first all if you can afford it, I suggest you upgrading to a dual band router so you can use 5ghz.

Using the 5ghz channels will make your connection constant and fast. But bare in mind it doesn't have long range. But it'll just save your day.

If not then I suggest you to check your area wireless connection. You can download an app from phone make an wifi analysis. Check which channel in the 2.4ghz band is the least crowded. Change to that. Then make sure you set a password to your connection and make sure your wireless it's at least outing in wireless N and with personal wps2 passcode.

You should get better connection

The PC and router are on separate rooms, but not that far away from each other (about 8 or 9 metres). I'll try to get the router a bit closer to my PC and check how it performs.

My router does handle multiple devices correctly. Having two laptops, four cellphones and my PC and still maintaining the connection on all of them. It's only my PC the one that has issues every now and then.

I'll take that into account but I won't be changing my router in the near future since I've bought the one I currently have almost two months ago.
