Hello,

Since a week ago I noticed these weird pixels formations popping up on random places across the screen.

The possition is different almost every time but always appear as 2 different blocks.

Scrolling down/up on a webpage the pixels move with it aswell. The colour of the pixels is not always red. I don't know what's causing this.

Is it my monitor, my videocard or chrome? I'm using a LG Flatron E2360 monitor, Windforce gtx 670 OC videocard and the latest version on chrome.

It may also happen in games but never noticed it probbably because of the fast pixel refresh rate in comparisson to a static webpage.

If anyone what this is and what's causing it, please let me know.

Does it happen only in Chrome?

I had one of those today on the top right corner of my monitor.  I just shut it off and went shopping and its not there anymore.  i have no idea what it was but it kinda bothered me.

This was on a Asus PB238Q with a 7950.

Does it happen only in Chrome?

No, I found it while on chrome but it was still there while I was on my desktop, itunes, firefox, and steam.

Do you have any spare displays you can use? A TV perhaps?

Unfortunately I have seen this before.  It was the result of a slowly dying ATI 5970 (yes I said ATI because the branding was still used in 2010 :) )

Now, these artifacts would appear on the desktop whenever there were changes to the core speed.  This occurred whenever something processor-demanding was utilized, such as a Flash player instance in a web browser.  The GPU core would automatically bump up from 400 to 700.  I've found that when I forced the Core speed through MSI Afterburner, these artifacts would go away.  However, my GPU would be at a higher speed constantly.

The reason why I said it was the result of a dying card is because in some games, I saw some awful looking polygons sticking out randomly.  They would also flicker, probably because of alternate GPU rendering (it is a dual GPU card).  Not all games exhibited this, but some games did it more often than others.

So all I can suggest is to perhaps try enforcing a constant GPU speed, or at least bump-up the "2D Mode" GPU speed when not in 3D games.
