Boot in safe mode, run this with the AMD preset, select 'remove then shut down' from the menu.

When it has finished and shut down, remove the AMD card and put in the Nvidia, boot windows normally and install Nvidia drivers

Not really. You can remove the Radeon drivers, but they shouldn't conflict with anything if you have an Nvidia card installed rather than a Radeon one.

I'd remove them because video drivers take up a little bit of space.

and because video drivers are know for fcking up for no good reason

Nvidia GPUs will be disabled if there are any kind of AMD drivers on the PC, including CCC and drivers.

Was this recently? Because I had a 7850 in my system sometime last year and I didn't remove the Radeon drivers when I got my 770's for the longest time.

Going from AMD drivers to nvidia is not an issue but going from nvidia drivers to AMD is an issue if you don't fully uninstall all traces of the driver the performance of the AMD card will be borked and it will seem like you have a busted card or that AMD just sucks.
