Hey guys so I have been looking for a good laptop backpack fora 17.3 inch laptop that is about 10 pounds and probably as big as a msi gt72 dominator pro to give you an idea. What im really looking for is a bag that has protection for the laptop but is also a good bag for traveling and hiking, the everki titan is what im currently considering but if you have a bag like this and you think its what I need or if you know of any others please suggest them below.

I just use a normal backpack or one of those one strap side bag things for laptops, i think the dedicated laptop bags are rip offs.

No offence but that was one of the stupidest things I have read on this forum, most bags im talking about are built specifically to protect the laptop and have seperate compartments and padding to do so, if you drop your bag with a two thousand dollar laptop in it in a regular bag and it breaks tough shit, these bags are specially made to prevent that. I would rather pay an extra 100$ to protect my 2500 dollar laptop then buy a 20$ backpack that offers no protection.

The bags that i buy have a shit load of padding anyways, sorry if it seems like i buy cheap bags, its odd because ive had the opposite issue in the past, we had some laptop case(for £50) and my mother dropped it, the thing was dead. I think that adds a personal bias for me to not like laptop bags anymore.

I have the Everki Titan and I like it a lot. It's awfully expensive though, and I'm not sure it's worth the $170 it seems to go for on Amazon...

Would it actually be good for hiking and traveling though? I don't mind the price if im going to have it for a few years and use it daily. I would use it for traveling, day to day school use and hikes.

yeah and the sad part was at the time i didnt know much about computers, the external damage didnt look major, im sure it must of just been a loose cable or something. Man if it was now then id definitely be able to fix it, i mean yesterday i had to re-solder part of my threadmill because my mother somehow went on it weirdly and dislodged the solder. Man i wish fixing stuff paid a lot because that would be one surefire path for me.

Maybe you should just stop letting your mother around anything... Break able. xD

It can hold a LOT of stuff in it, so I suppose for day to day school work it'll be pretty good. I've never used it for long periods of time in rugged/wet environments, so I can't really speak to how it is for hiking. The material feels pretty durable, and it's supposed to be water-resistant, so I assume it would work well for that.

to add to this, i also have an everki backpack and i often have to cycle through rain, when i'm soaked the insides of the backpack are perfectly dry, so i'd assume it would be ideal for hiking

Just get an Osprey pack that suits your needs. It will be bloody expensive but its worth it because their warranty is baller. You don't even have to be the original owner or even have proof of purchase and they will fix the thing for you. I think the cyber or flapjack is big enough for what you need and they are a very bike/hiking oriented company so it would work well regardless.

Desktop -  i5 4670k, GTX 770, Maximums VI Hero, 2X Kingston Hyper X 3k in raid zero.

Laptop - Lenovo X230 Intel 535 480GB, 16GB Gskill memory, Classic Keyboard Mod, Triple USB 3.0 Express Card.
