HI.

I have 750 USD i want to spend on my computer to update it.  I dont know what to buy...  My rig is I3-2100 and 7870GHz and i feel that its a bit outdated to play games in 1080P.

What i had in mind was either a new CPU/Mobo or new GPU, not both because i will get more cash later on and i could live whit some bottlenecks  for a month or 4.

I was planing to buy it on black friday but i want to be ready and have my mind set on what t buy when the time comes

What i need help whit is what to buy? I was thinking I7-4970k/Hero/Mpower or maybe an GTX 980, what will give me the most joy or FPS in gaming?  BF4,Planetside 2, Skyrim, CS, and so on

Either get a 4690/k with Gaming 5/7 Mobo, or 970 (980 isn't worth it).

I'd personally upgrade that CPU, and later GPU.

I'd go with this:

4690k

H105i

MSI gaming 7

16Gb of RAM

And with the second surge of money, i'd get 970 :D

Also, remember to follow your topics and quite people so they could get notifications :D

I'd probably get a used i5 3570k or something and a GTX970/R9 290, and if you don't already upgrade to 8GB of RAM.

If you're using your system as a PC more often than as a gaming machine, then the CPU/mobo upgrade would be best.

But. With the 7870 and i3 you've mentioned, it's likely that your PSU, case, won't accommodate your upgrades.

CPU: Intel I5-4690k (stock) Motherboard: Asus B85 Pro gamer RAM: 2x4 - GB Avexir kit (xmp is not enabled) GPU: XFX R9 280X DD Case: Coolermaster Storm Enforcer Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB, Seagate Barracuda 1TB, WD 250GB PSU: Thermaltake Smartpower 750w Monitor: BenQ RL2455HM Cooling: 200mm front intake, 200mm top exhaust, 200mm rear exhaust Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K70 Mouse: Logitech G502 Proteus Core Sound: Kingston HyperX Clouds and Logitech Speakers Operating System: Windows 10 64bit

Thats excellent. If your going for gaming, then the best CPU would be the I5-4690. If you're going to overclock, then the i5-4690k.

That means you can put more into the GPU and mobo, as you really don't need a more powerful cpu for gaming.

I will add though, Planetside 2 does seem to be quite a CPU driven game. In the dense battles, my FX-6300 can drop the frames considerably. r9 280x keeps on chugging.

Not sure about Skyrim

BF4, I5 is fine

CS. Lol

Many of the new releases are pouting 4-6gb of VRAM for the recommended specs. Shadow of mordor needs 6gb for the ultra textures (there's a tiny difference betwee ultra and high though). The 980 has 4gb vram (at the moment)

We might see more variants of the  980 with more vram, and maybe even the 980ti/990 by Black Friday

I really do apreciate your help but i seriously just want help on what to buy first, CPU( I am getting 4790k) Or GPU( GTX 980/970 if there is a >15% price drop)

I don't recommend getting an I7-4790k unless a) your overclocking, b) your doing a lot more than just gaming.

The money you save on the cpu could be strectched to get a second 970 for the build!

If your happy with your decision, then i would recommend CPU/mobo first, GPU later
