Stuff I've done with mine:

  • Email notification LED
  • DLNA(or UPnP) device, for streaming videos/music/pictures to and from the pi.
  • Media box with XBMC(I think the name is different though, something with pi in it probably).
  • Retro pie, for emulating "classic" games(don't recommend N64 though).
  • Camera and GPS tracker for RC airplanes.
  • Bluetooth speakers(and host device, so you use a phone as a remote).

Stuff I'm planning on doing with my pi:

  • Home automation.
  • piPod(unsolder the un-needed stuff and make the ultimate mp3 player).
  • ^dvd dock so I can play mp3 cd/dvd's too(and finally redeem that technology).
  • car PC
  • possibly a car ECU(I can dream right?)
  • portable HDD "cloud"(not sure about this one, because I want to run FTP, Samba, and DLNA at once).

I would just do some browsing on the interwebs, there is an infinite amount of projects for the pi(I just have lost interest and don't have the money for them lol).

Make it a bitcoin mining rig, will cost you some, and may be an option that is unavailable at your location, but you could earn bitcoins from it, the raspberry pi is very low power consuming and with a some storage for a bitcoin wallet, if you need one, you can make it happen. Note that the pi needs to be a certain type, to find out more search this one youtube, DIY bitcoin mining rig.

Old school emulators are pretty cool but there is so much random shit you can do.
