Air flow question

Friends recommending that I do not intake air from top and do not pump air out of bottom even though the motherboard is upside down in the case im using ( http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Cases/Micro+ATX/BitFenix+Phenom+MATX+Cube+Case+-+Midnight+Black+?productId=58069 ), you can probably tell that I think otherwise and think that the intake should be at the top.

Just wondering if I was right or my friends were correct?

Take air in from the front, and exhaust it out the bottom and rear.

If I'm not mistaken the front intake uses an indirect airflow. (vents and spacing at the bottom or sides of the case)

 

As far as which way air should flow... since heat rises, it's better to expel the air near the top, so that the hotter air is pushed out.

You'll want to have the intake in a place that would have cool air coming in, and then you want that air to go through most of the case to help the entire case with fresh cool air.

I'm sure I'm wrong but the front intake is just vents, no fan or anything and most of the front intake air will be taken by the PSU.

He is right. You dont want an intake in the lower fan location, dust is evil.

 

It has 2 120mm fan mounts and the side of the front panel has "air intakes"

Oh, wow that's a crappily designed case. In that case, intake in the rear, exhaust in the bottom.
