Colour Difference Between 2 x IPS panels

I just got myself an Asus VX279Q 27" and decided to use my friends monitor while he's away as a seconday for emails etc... it's an Asus VX229H 22".

Now seeing as they are bth pretty much the same monitor just different sizes I thought they would have identical colours etc... but for some reason the small one doesn't match the bigger one in the colour department even with the same settings.

Would this difference be soley down to the size difference ?

This is gonna take some major tweaking.

Make sure that you are both on the same SPLENDID mode that Asus displays have. If thats still not looking the same then perhaps you have a differing panel? More modern IPS display (AH-PS perhaps)

They are both AH-IPS A+ panels, The only difference is that 1 is 27" and the other is 22", I'm guessing it's down to that because they have the same settings selected in the OSD.

Different batch monitor panel OR backlight, leads to different colors.
ASUS doesn't adjust it's firmware to compensate for this, nor most manufactures (well all non-pro grade ones, and even then).

To reduce the problem, you can purchase monitor that comes with pre-calibrated profiles. While better, it won't solve the problem as the calibration is not only quick, but also back-light is different, if one emits a blue white and the other a more yellow or true white, due to the different manufactures of the back-light used to meet demand, there is only so much you can do.

The following doesn't apply to you, but just for general knowledge:
This is why it is always recommended that if you plan to have a multi-monitor setup, to buy all your monitor at the same time, to reduce the risk of getting a monitor from a different batch. And if you are unlucky, and the 2 monitors are from a different batch, return BOTH, and re-order.
