Speaker set up assistance

Dude

Hey guys,

So I have finally moved my PS3 to my desk so that even though my brother has moved back from University that doesn't mean that I can't watch movies. Anyway, my monitor does not have speakers so I will need to buy some that I can use with my PC after I am done with using them for my PS3 on my desk.

Now, my desk isn't very big. My PS3 and monitor take up a fair bit of room but there is a gap between my PS3 and mouse pad I believe I could place some speakers but I could just buy a soundbar instead and connect that to the PS3 and then buy a DAC for use with my PC. Or I could just move that soundbar to my TV if I buy another one (having to borrow my little sister's because my TV committed TVicide).

So what option should I choose? Soundbar or speakers? These aren't going to be in short term use only by the way so that means that I can stretch my budget quite a bit but I would like to keep spending quite low unless I can properly justify spending more.

Thanks

Unless you can get one of the Dell soundbars (forgot the model, but there is one that is kickass), don't get a soundbar. And if you can swing it, set it up so the sound from your PS3 goes into the line-in on your PC, so that all of the sound can come out of your PC. Works great (doing it now with my Technics ST-S77 radio tuner and my Dell to make my dresser cleaner). And there's basically no performance hit.

And you can just mute your PS3 in the recording devices window (assuming you're running Windows) to do stuff on your PC. Sounds like a pain in the ass, but it's not.
