He has $3K to spend..... An i7 is much better in his perspective.

just because you have the money, you don't need to spend it and if he really feels like trowing money out of the window SLI would be a better option.

Java Programmer, AMD Fanboy and soon to be casemodder

Yes you are right. If he loves performance they why not buy an i7?

just because you have the money, you don't need to spend it and if he really feels like trowing money out of the window SLI would be a better option.

You do know AAA titles like Watch_Dogs and BF4 already utilizes 8 threads?

Look at DX12 and Mantle.

An i7 will be much more superior in the next year or so.

Also, I'm guessing he's going to throw in a 980 G1, and it still would be an overkill.

Why would you get an SLI config when 90% of the games (even AAA titles) aren't optimized for SLI configurations?

Sli configurations have horrible price/performance value. It is useless unless you're planning to run Ultra on 4K.

He's running two 1080p monitors.

An 980 should be able to handle both on high. two 970s in SLI might be a better deal than.

You are totally wrong. He has 2 1080p monitor and it will do fine with 2k resolution.

But again if he want lots of fps and going 4k,then a sli would matter.

I wouldn't buy any razer products because of their quality.

Change intel SSD to crucial mx100 series or Samsung evo 840.

Change cpu cooler to nzxt kraken x61

-snip-

Don't change it to a 840 EVO. Get a 2 1TB HDDs in RAID configuration with an 850 PRO. The 840 is known to have a glitch with the TLC flash memory as it's performance degrades over time. I'm not having problems with it, and there is patch scheduled to be rolling out this month. It's capable, but I'll suggest getting a more reliable/faster SSD over the EVO.

Thx for your suggestions.

So summarizing i should change

GTX 980 for two 970 in SLI ? I wached a video with Linus in which he said that SLI isnt that good in games beacuse it dosent use full power of 2 graphic cards .

Kraken x61 is hard to get in my country yet , but i will try to get it !

Crucial mx 100 is even cheaper then Intel and if performace is better i will definitly get it !

The x99 is getting realy expensive , but i had a moment of thinkig about NCIX RogueX tier 1 .

Sorry for my English

Crucials have a very slow read/write speed.

850 PRO all the way, still functioning after 10TB of read/writes.
