Hey guys,

I really love the ability to open the start menu (start is back) and just use the search to find any file on my computer. In order to do this I need to have windows index all of my drives (2 ssds, 3hdd). I'm just wondering what kind of performance hit i'm taking by doing this. Is it a constant task or does windows only index new files? What indexing settings do you use and is there a better option?

Thanks.

That depends on what you index, what level (number of file format where you want Windows indexing to index the content of the files), and what you do with your drives, and how much content you have.

But usually, it is taxing while it indexes, once it's done, it's just a question of updating the index as you add/remove/modify files.
