Upgrading laptop ram

Hey guys, i am looking at adding another 8gb of ram into my laptop, so im wondering if i can mix and match the ram sticks, since the 8gb already in my laptop is samsung, can i add another 8gb of something like corsair branded ram?


CPU Intel I7-4700MQ @2.4 ghz, turbos to 3.4 

Motherboard  whatever toshiba put in the thing

RAM 8GB 1600mhz 

GPU  Nvidia Geforce GT 740M  

Storage 750Gb 5400rpm   

Cooling  Crappy laptop fan 

Operating System  windows 8 64 bit

It isn't recommended. I had a 4GB RAM Stick and upgraded 8gb. There was almost no difference. My Laptop was still slow af. Better to get a new laptop?

Yes, you can add RAM basically the same way as you would in a normal PC. You just need to make sure it is the correct type, SO-DIMM and so on.

If it isn't working absolutely perfectly, according to all your assumptions, it is broken.
