i5 3570k vcore question!

Go to solution Solved by Wats,

More GHz. 1.22 Vcore is no big deal.

No one has had an IB running 100% 24/7 for long enough to tell us about degradation. If someone has, lemme know, I wanna read about it.

right now I have my 3570k clocked stable at 4.5Ghz with a +.115 offset so voltage is 1.224v HOWEVER here's the kicker. at +.005 offset I can achieve 4.2Ghz stable. Temps are not a problem.

my question is, which is greater: the extra .3Ghz or the lower voltage?

I know degradation is a problem but is that significant change in voltage noticeable?

Thanks,

-John

thanks! I know 1.25v is kinda the "limit" for air cooling (im using the CM EVO) so do you think I could/should push farther?

Ehhh, kind of depends chip to chip. Use what you need, just keep the stress temps below 85c. Some people just stay below 90 while others are getting scared at 65c.

You prolly wont use more than 1.3v at all because it's going to get kind of warm by then..

They do abuse the HW before they release it. Intel suggests you should stay below 1.52v, AMD suggests 1.55v I think. You have a lot of room lol.. There's also that Intel tuning thingy that I refuse to buy because all of my Intel chips ever still work -.-

well on prime 95 the highest temp was 88c but the temps stayed consistent around 73-80c

Need a better cooler to go further.

im worried if I get an h80i it wont be a significant nor important investment. I don't think the temp sway will be that great

Don't go for a single 120. Need fast, noisy push/pull to get anything decent out of them..

H100 is still fine. H220 is nice if you never want to upgrade it. As soon as you do it's worthless, as in, not a lot of people will be buying a used one.

I heard very good things about the Xigmatech dark knight recently.

the problem is I dont really have any spots to mount a 2x120 rad. are there any 200mm X 200mm rads?

I like the look of the dark knight but do you think I could sell my evo?

You'd need to look into a custom loop for 200mm rads. Before you go building a loop you should upgrade your HW.

If they EVER get the classifieds section of the forum up and running then yes, you should be able to sell your cooler.

Start a cpu cooler fund, find a pickle jar and start throwing your loose change in it daily. My brother built a whole gaming rig last year with a giant cheesy puff container full of change.
