Canadian winter overclocking

Excon

So its starting to get close to winter in Canada, it;s current 0c/32f outside. I have the window open fan blowing in to cool my room as low as it will go. Do some benchmarks and stuff. Do I have to worry about anything? My friend says I should worry about frost and moisture, I dont think so.

The only thing to worry about would be condensation. If you do it in your room that is.

But aslong as you take the prober precautions, you should be fine.

When you heat your room back up, don't turn the computer on for atleast 24 hours. This will give the water time to evaporate.

Your body will give off water vapour, and so will other people in your household, so the inside of a home is usually quite humid.

I set my tower out the front door last winter when it was literally -40c here in Michigan and it was so cold it wouldn't boot lol. Maybe I'll set it next to a window this winter and see how cold my H320 will keep my cpu at like 1.45v. I also have a SSD boot drive now so that will help with too cold booting issues.

It's to be on the safe site. The last anyone wants is fried hardware.

The time will vary depending on how cold it is, and how humid the air is.

Nothing like having a PC for a room heater. Take your side panel off, and put a fan on your PC and door, keep everything circulated, wait for your computer to reach room temperature, then give it a few hours with a bit of air blowing over it and it should be fine imo

if your room temperature is lower than the temperature of your hardware, then you should worry about condensation
