So my friend got some Turtlebeach PX3's and he think they're the best headset ever. I keep telling him they're not, and he could've got way better ones for 20 bucks cheaper. He's really stubborn and won't believe me. I don't know what to do with him.

Give him a proper pair of headphones and say "sit down and shut-up"...

Sadly I don't have any, otherwise I would. I'm going to get some Hyper X Cloud's next month though so I will then.

Which are probably like $300 or more, right? Definitely the best in the price range. Do you use an AMP with them, or is one even needed?

there 60Ohm, no amp needed, a good mobo would do fine. IPads and stuff like that make them sound muddy, but i can crank the volume to 75% on windows and its unbearably loud... but a amp would make things just sound that much nicer.

You can get DT880 Pros for $185 of Amazon. But you do need an amp, they're really stubborn to drive.
