Started my desktop computer this week. I have the mobo, PSU, graphics card and SSD (coming soon) and have yet to get the CPU + Water cooler and the RAM.

This computer was intended for pretty much everything except extreme gaming however, I have planned to expand my component selection to include that factor. This isn't much of a mod but more of a first timer experiment so we'll see how it goes!

Choose an NZXT case. It looks REALLY good, BUT, it does NOT come with a optical drive slot. I was an idiot and didn't look but alas there is none. Not much of a problem since I download everything online anyway but nevertheless, keep that in mind.

The PSU came with pre-sleeved cables which was great because it doesn't void the warranty but they only come in black. Not much of a problem since my color scheme was black/red.IMG_4922.JPG

Mounted and routed everything. Looks cleaner then I thought.IMG_4928.JPG

Picked up the Graphics card for $70 off, been used for 2 months. IMG_20141003_112107250.jpg

This is what I've got up to this point. I'm expecting to have the build completed by February and hopefully sooner.

70$ off? bargin, so you payed like 70$ ?

how much did you save on other components?

Ha, the card is definitely not top of the line, but we overclocked it to 1400+ and it handles everything I've thrown at it 3DMark 11 60FPS+ no problem. Nothing on the other components.

UPDATE 10/6/14 - Custom Paint Jobs

Did a little bit of custom painting over the weekend. This is the back plate on my Graphics card.

As you can see I tried to paint the SSD but because I used a paper mask, it smudged so

NOTE: DO NOT USE PAPER AS A MASK!

I will be redoing it with foam cutouts.

Looks pretty nice. I'd just use plain masking tape as a mask and do cutouts with a razor blade.

Although yeah, that runs the risk of scratching shit.

That's a great idea and I can't believe I didn't think of it as I have done paint jobs like that before. I think it was because I printed off an image and cut that  out. Thanks
