suggestion - gpu upgrade

kerberos

Hello everyone,

Ok here is the scenario : I'm planning to upgrade for a better GPU till the end of this year. I currently own 2 gtx 780Ti but in 2 separate PCs. (the upgrade would be for my PC, I will just put those old gtx 780Ti in SLI in the other)

We're gaming occasionally but when I do, I like the gaming experience with my 3d monitor.

What would you guys do ?

PS : tried that poll thing not sure if it will show..

PC1 = i7 4790k  -  Asus Z97 Mark1  -  Corsair Dominator 32GB kit  -  Evga GTX 780Ti SC x2 SLI  -  SSD 512GB x2  -  12TB NAS  -  Carbide Air540  -  24" 120Hz x2 3D ready  -  Corsair K95 + M95
Custom Watercooling loop with low profile radiators / fans

PC2 = i7 4770k  -  Z97 Maximus VII Hero  -  16 GB kit  -  Evga GTX 980 SC ACX 2.0  -  Graphite 760T  -  24" VE248 x2  -  Corsair K70RGB + M90

If I could, I'd get a pair of 980ti's in sli so I could hand the upcoming balls to the walls insane good looks of star citizen.

Then I'd just need a monitor that isn't 768p

And you know this how? Source?

And you know there will be one how? Source? I know there is a 95% chance their wont be because of 1. Common sesne 2. The facts about the 980. 3. Nvidias track record.

The gtx 780 was a locked chip when the gtx 780ti came around it was the same exact one except that it was unlocked hence it was given the "ti" (Titanium).

The gtx 980 is already fully unlocked there is nowhere to go from there on that chip, rumors have it that nvidia is coming out with a new maxwell chip that will be even better then the gtx 980 but it will most likely be the titan 2.0 or possibly the 990. They will never call it the 980ti.

Fair enough, but you still don't know that there wouldn't be one as 100% fact, nor do I know for 100% fact that there will be one, perhaps I should have said "980ti equivalent" or the titan.

I'm currently playing 768p @ 60hz on a 30 inch sony brava TV. Not sure if I want a 144hz 1080 screen because those all seem to be 21 inch, which would kind of feel like a step backwards. SWTOR does run on this tv at 1080p (set to it, I guess downsampled or whatever?)

GTX 780Ti to a GTX 980...only a slight upgrade (IMO side grade)

GTX 780Ti to GTX 970...downgrade.

Pair of GTX 780 Ti's in SLi will still dominate any single-GPU option (even versus one GTX 980Ti...if that happens).

You'd have to go multi-GPU to see any VAST performance improvement compared to a single GTX 780Ti.
