the ACX 2.0 cooler is pretty ballin, the price difference isn't worth it for the GB card, although the GB card *might* overclock better.

windforce. The ACX cooler has a problem: http://www.reddit.com/r/hardware/comments/2h32xb/the_acx_cooler_used_on_the_evga_gtx_970_appears/

And the windforce is very quiet and is the 970 with the lowest temps.

That 3rd Heatpipe isn't even closed lol.... that alone just looks like a bargain bin attempt at putting it together.

But his one looks badass!

EVGA_Jacob has already addressed this issue with the 970 ACX 2.0.

I was surprised that people jumped all over the disabled heatpipe of the acx 970, and not the lack of heatpipe contact down the center of the gpu die. just shows the mindset of sensationalists.

Well he addressed the Heatpipe contact "issue" also and he said the difference it made was 2-4C at the most when it was making contact during there design and testing of the card.

He also said that they will be releasing a BIOS update for the 900 series ACX 2.0 card to address the aggressive fan curve and enable a Fanless mode like Asus and MSI have on their cards now.

The ACX 2.0 has better, more efficient motors (and ball bearings), plus it will have 0db (fans off) bellow a certain temp.

The windforce fans use a cheaper sleeve bearing design.

The new Windforce is better, especially on the 980. It has more copper built in and 3 fans instead of 2. You should be able to run the fans at a lower speed because there are 3 and still get great temps and less noise. The overall quality of the Windforce is just higher quality built and the outside is made of metal and not plastic, unlike the ACX 2.0.

You are paying the premium on the Gigabyte G1 series because the overall quality build is better and they publically state they bin their GPUs.
