Audio setup

superfly498

Im trying to figure out how im going to set up all my audio devices and switch between them. I just ordered the Kanto Yumi speakers off of massdrop and also have a Schitt stack (Modi DAC and Magni amp) and beyerdynamic DT 990 Pros. Im debating buying a switcher to switch between headphones and speakers so that Yumis come out of the DAC and the headphone amp also Comes out of the Dac (this would clutter up my desk most likely). Or I could run an optical audio cable from my PC to the Yumi's but then I dont make use of my DAC which is probably better :(

Any thoughts?

get a switch, and get a decent switch, a cheap switch will just degrade your sound, which then makes no use of actually using DACs

I don't think it will degrade the sound, unless the switch is horrendously designed.

Here is the switch I use: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005TE7GP4/

RCA can be converted into 3.5mm, quarter inch can be converted in to 3.5mm. I use a quarter inch to 3.5mm converter that has a little cord and is right angled to cut down on clutter on my desk.

I think I might go with just an optical audio cable for now since it is only $5. Not looking to spend $30 on a switch right now and rca to 3.5mm cables. I will definitely look into it later though

Get this. I run my PC out to my DAC then into the switcher with then goes to my amp, powered speakers, DJ controller and 3.5mm jack if I need to plug my phone in for some reason, It's really easy to set up and use.

That looks pretty useful actually. So you can use any port as input and output? Theres no dedicated input or output?

Yep, you can make any port anything you want. You're only limited by your dreams.
