So recently my 8120 died and I was wondering should I just get a all new Haswell system or save some money and get an Ivy system or just get a 8350.

Current system:

CPU: FX-8120(Dead)

MoBo: ASRock 970 Extreme4

RAM: 8GB x2 G.Skill Aries 1866

GPU: GTX570 (will be getting a 780 in few months)

PSU: OCZ 700 watt Mod-X

Well a new haswell system wont cost much more. I planned on getting a ivy system and when haswell was released I just put in that sytem instead to see how much it would cost me and it was only about 100$ more

I'd go with an 8320(not 50.)

If you're building a new system from scratch, (obviously minus the peripherals, and case, etc. Even the HD and SSD if they function well), I would run the newest generation processor from AMD or Intel. But first, what I would do is see what the capabilities of good Overclocks on Haswell are compared to previous generations (I'd lump Sandybridge in here too), and see if it performs that much better. If its such a small number and your budget is tight, then go either with sandy or ivy.

If you can help it though, you are almost 100% better off going with the latest thing. As for me, I run a 2600k and have no real plans to upgrade until Intel really blows me away in the performance gains.
