Hi!

I have seen few 300r fan setups already on the first page, but didn't get the desired answer.

So, the first thing, is the CPU cooler orientation. I don't know, if I should place it horizontal(fan at bottom) or vertical(fan at right side). Which one is the more effective? I will use Scythe Slip Stream 140mm 800rpm fans, because they seem to be the quietest.

Intake: 2 of those in front
Exhaust: 2 of those in top

Now, the second thing, do I have to add a rear 120mm fan if I set up the CPU cooler vertically?

Honestly, I have no idea yet, the cooler just stands on the desk now, waiting for the case and fans, so I can assemble it all together.

It can be mounted both ways I'm sure, but I'm using Vengeance RAMs, so that may be a problem again. If so, second question still persists. :)

You'll have a lot of airflow going over it, so I'd say mount it vertically (fans pointed at the rear of the case). If you do so, take one of the top fans out and put it round the back, or spin both your top fans around so they intake, and the sheer amount of positive pressure will force the air out the back of the case anyway. There's a Silverstone video about the Fortress FT01 where they did this, and it really benefitted airflow.

Your CPU cooler will only fit one way, and it's most likely horizontally, the fans should blow air to the back of the case.

You do not need to add a rear exhaust if you don't want to.
