On past years we've seen great deals, like 50% off RAM and motherboards, but these dates are very unreliable for shopping, you don't know what's going to be on discount, maybe you find great deals but you have to change the complete orientation of your system (for example a 5820k+X99 mobo combo appears for like $350, but you though of getting a 4790k and a Z97 mobo, now you have to redesign your plans, or you jump from mITX, mATX and ATX constantly because of different offers).

If you can wait, go ahead and try to find a good deal, after the date passes you can complete the rest of the parts you didn't purchase.

This is probably the best way to  go about it, score some deals then finish it up after the fact
